《红楼梦》英文译本及论著书目索引(1830-2005)

    本索引资料来源如下:
    1)“《中国书目》( Bibliotheca Sinica: Dictionnaire Bibliographique des Ouvrages Relatifs a L’empire chinois)”:该大型工具书于1878年由巴黎Ernest Leroux初版,编者为高第(Henri Cordier),提供当时所有与中国有关的西文书目,并于1895年进行增补。本研究使用的是1904年纽约BurtFranklin的重印版。《中国书目》是翟理思1901年的《中国文学史》(AHistory of Chinese Literature)的主要参考书目,他认为,“这一书目完整而精确,没有遗漏任何你想要的东西,对于所有中文领域的研究者来说都非常关键。”
    2)“亚洲研究书目(Bibliography of Asian Studies)”:这是非常重要的一个书目索引,提供1971年之后出版的与亚洲各地区有关的西文图书、文章和图书章节的目录。
    3)“期刊档案(Jstor Journal Archive)”:这一网上资源提供上千种英文学术期刊自创刊到2001年的全文档案,并提供2001年至2004年的目录索引。时间跨度长,包括多种亚洲研究及比较文学研究期刊。
    4)“学术搜索引擎(EBSCO: Academic Search Premier)”:提供1990至今4500种杂志和学术期刊的全文资料,以及8000多种杂志和学术期刊的摘要和目录。
    5)《中国古典小说:研究和欣赏论文和书目指南》(Classical Chinese Fiction: A Guide to Its Study and Appreciation Essays and Bibliographies):本书于1978年由美国的C. K. Hall&Co.出版,提供20世纪初至1977年英语世界所发表的中国古典小说评介文章的书目,主编为杨立宇(Winston L. Y. Yang)、彼得·李( PeterLi)和内森·毛(Nathan K. Mao)。
    6)《书目甲·红楼梦的西文译本及论著》:这是吴世昌1963年出版的专著《红楼探源》之后的附录,提供1959年以前的红楼梦英文译本和论著十七种。
    7)《近年的红学述评》:本文于1974年1月发表于香港《中华月报》,作者陈炳良,因具有较为重要的文献价值,台北文史哲出版社1974年出版的《红学六十年》将其作为附录收入。文章提供1959年至1972年间“在英国、美国用英文写的有关红楼梦的文章”(注:其实也包括专著)书目和简介共十七种。
    8)《红楼梦在英国》、《红楼梦在美国》:这是出版于1993年的胡文彬专著《红楼梦在国外》的两个专章,列举自1830年至20世纪80年代英、美两国对于《红楼梦》的多种评介文章。
    9)《英美红学》、《各国对〈红楼梦〉欧美译本的评论》:这是出版于2005年的姜其煌专著《欧美红学》的两个章节,前者列举1842年至20世纪80年代多种与《红楼梦》有关的英文论著,后者列举各种《红楼梦》英译本产生后的评论和反馈。
    上述工具书、书目索引和相关研究相互衔接,相互补充,覆盖了《红楼梦》英文译介史所跨越的整个时间段,其中1)、2)、4)提供了19世纪以及20世纪70年代以后的《红楼梦》英文译介资料的详尽书目,而3)、5)、6)、7)、8)、9)不仅能对上述书目进行补充,还是20世纪初到70年代之间《红楼梦》英文评介资料的主要书目来源。综合多种记载结果,我们最终能够确定一个相对完整的《红楼梦》英文译介系统。
    本文书目中的期刊一般不标注出版地点,但在收录中国大陆和港台的英文期刊时,会对出版地点特别加以说明,以便和英语世界的期刊进行区分。这类期刊文章共有15篇。另有大陆和港台出版机构发行的英文专著和译作5种共6册,也以中文标注了出版地点。
